PERMISSIONS/OOC INFORMATION.

WARNING: THIS POST WILL CONTAIN MASSIVE SPOILERS FOR FINAL FANTASY XIV PATCH 3.3, ESPECIALLY ANY LINKS.

CHARACTER NAME(S): Estinien Wyrmblood (and Your Boy, Eggnog Nidhogg)

ALIASES: Andrien (for Estinien, not Nidhogg)

RACE STUFF: Elezen. He is possessed of exceptional hearing as a result of being a Duskwight and Elezen in general. (Duskwights have even better hearing on top of the already amazing hearing Elezen have!) And is incredibly adaptable to caves and most natural environments due to his body's build, as well as able to do, well, Dragoon-y stuff well. If you want in-depth potential history of the non-Ishgardian variety, here is that. It's likely that Estinien's probably either part Wildwood and part Duskwight (which may explain his light skin, although Duskwight PCs can have lighter skintones), or full Ishgardian Duskwight, most likely distantly related to Haldrath. Ishgard is predominately a Wildwood offshoot, however, there ARE Duskwights in the High Houses there, after all. (Just look at house Dzemael's sons!)

NIDHOGG is a Dravanian, or Dragon. Dragons in XIV are kinda special and have a lot of cool abilities. He can breathe fire, has weird dark magic, and can possess people. He is sort of Darkness Incarnate as a Dragon.

CANON POINT: Just after the peace meeting with Vidofnir when Nidhogg took off to get some rest pre-Steps of Faith battle.

Fourthwalling: Go for it. But he won't believe you. Neither will Nidhogg.
Offensive subjects (elaborate): I'm pretty hard to offend, since I understand anything said IC is not the same as OOC. So unless I notice you being weird and using your muse as a mouthpiece, you're probably fine. Don't worry about treading on eggshells with me. Just try not to cut a lot of anti-gay jokes or something, I guess.

Hugging this character: Estinien: yes, but do so at your own peril, because he'll be incredibly upset his space was violated. Probably best to only touch him if you know him really well.

Nidhogg: DO NOT HUG THE EGGNOG DO NOT HUG THE EGGNOG DO NOT HUG THE EGGNOG HE WILL BITE/BURN YOU.

Kissing this character: Estinien is pretty anti-romance. I cannot even see this happening. That said, if you can think of a reason for it... you can try. He probably won't react well ICly, though; he's a touchy fellow.

DO NOT KISS THE EGGNOG. YOU WILL LOSE YOUR LIPS. HE IS NOT HRAESVELGR.

Flirting with this character: Oh my god, please, flirt with him. Flirt with Niddhog, too. The former will be confused and not know how to handle it, the latter will laugh you off.
Fighting with this character: FIGHT HIM. Fight them both. They're the type. Just ask me first so we can work out the details of said fight! :D
Injuring this character (include limits and severity): Hmm... for SEVERE injuries, let's work them out. I don't mind them, but I prefer to know ahead of time so I can decide if I'm okay with them or not.

Please injure Eggnog, though, he deserve it. Especially in the eye-region. That said, if you do injure my character, let's not get so graphic in detail we're gonna get sick about it, okay?

Killing this character: Not without my express permission, on either front. Let's work that out first. Definitive "no unless I give the go ahead", methinks.
Using telepathy/mind reading abilities on this character: 100% go for it, Estinien is an open book. If you want more about what you'd find, just check out his application.

Nidhogg, however, likely has defenses like you would not believe being an ancient dragon and Midgardsormr's son, tiny or not. Even then... his mind is disgusting, filled with hatred, rancor, and disdain. You don't WANT to be in there, that is like... what, thousands of years of disgusting racism and hatred and darkness and fire? Having babies just to send them off to die? Seriously, you don't want in that dragon's head. And even if you get past all that, his sheer arrogance is kind of annoying. If you do try to read Niddy's mind, though, please, warn me. If you actually get through (we'll diceroll on it, it's slim but it could happen) there's a chance you could learn about his past, in which case, I guess that might be interesting. Stuff about how his sister Ratatoskr died, how the Elezens they lived in harmony with betrayed them, how he demanded his brother fork over his own eye, how he's known nothing but war... all that good stuff and more.

Warnings: First and foremost, interacting with these two carries a risk of mention of Eye-related things and bodyhorror and possession, so if you're uncool with that, just let me know.

Secondly, Estinien and Nidhogg are attached. Mindreading one will probably get you bits of the other. Estinien also has a lot of trauma and a lot of a fucked up past and a tendency for suicidal actions (he doesn't much care for his own life, for example), so he's prone to flinging himself at danger. He's also perfectly capable of gouging out dragon eyes and shit like that. FFXIV can be kinda hardcore sometimes, so if any of this shit bothers you, let me know and I won't bring it up in-tag. If EGGNOG bothers you, let me know and HE won't show up in a tag. While I realize this info could fall into the mindreading category above, it also deserves a warning to it, since, well, Estinien and Nidhogg both have problems, hah.

Other Crap: For those of you who are sensitive to magic (or Aether), Estinien reeks of darkness and possession, as well as blood. He smells like dragon, too. Ancient dragon. And if you can sense emotions, the strongest thing you'll smell is probably an old hatred or something like that.

He's been Nidhogg's plaything for awhile now, and has been almost-possessed by him before. More than that, the guy walked around in Drachen mail covered in Niddy's blood, which had his Eyes attached to it and used to carry the INCREDIBLY POWERFUL, DISGUSTING, REALLY DISTORTED DRAGON'S EYES AROUND. He's kind of messed up in terms of Aether/magic. If you can sense signatures like this, you're probably going to pick up on this and not like his aura overmuch. Even though he and Nidhogg have mostly separated in Portes, the 'link' sort of remains, so they're spiritually connected. Nidhogg can pretty much tell where Estinien is, I'm willing to wager, and Estinien can faintly sense if Nidhogg is a few rooms down.

If you want some quick info on Estinien's mail and his lance, here's a reference for it before it was semi-battered and smeared in blood, and here's how it looked before it got further contaminated, AKA its present state in Portes (minus the eyes now, still goopy though). And when Nidhogg is completely using him, transforming him into an empty husk plaything, Estinien turns into this. With six fucking wings. Probably not gonna happen in Portes, but worth knowing! (He's also a lot bigger in that form.) As an aside, here is a height comparison if you were wondering Estinien's super height. He's an Elezen. He tall.

Having said that, onto the dragon himself. If you want a good idea of what he looks like, here and here should give you an idea of what "OH FUCK HORRIFYING DRAGON" he is. He's been shrank in Portes, so it's that and a mix of something like this, now, but his eyes are probably still super creepy. And if you want a clip of his voice... yeah. He's the not white dragon. He always sounds like that. If you want him speaking English and not Dravanian, here's that. (Big warning for Estinien choking himself to death there, he almost succeeds at it. It's bloody. Also some body horror.)

Having said all of this, even if you read all this and only want to be vaguely spoiled on what happens... if you want to avoid spoilers for FFXIV 3.3 backwards, it is best you not interact with Estinien/Nidhogg period.
